One thing I have learned over the past few years is your mind is an absolutely unbelievable object that has the ability to either make or break your career.
Someone that has their mind right and has their mind set to exactly what they want, with the right attitude, is someone that can do some unbelievable things not just in baseball but also in life.
Everyone knows people that are constantly “glass half full” type of people.
No matter what happens in their life, they always see the positive in it and always look for ways to grow from experiences and get better.
We also all know people who are negative ALL of the time.
They complain about how their life is, how they can’t “buy” a hit, and how everyone is against them.
Which one of these two people is typically more successful?
Which one of these people do you want to be around?
Which one INSPIRES you and leads you to be a better person and helps you develop into the athlete and person you want to be?
Having a positive mindset and realizing that YOU and only YOU are in control of your future and in your life!
There are many factors that go into your success, but a person that can constantly overcome obstacles is going to be the one that reaches the top.
It is almost impossible for a negative person to reach the top and here is why:
No matter what your goal is, you WILL run into big adversity.
There will be times where your goal seems impossible to reach.
Life in general, is a roller coaster. One day you are on top of the world, and the next day you are at rock bottom! The people that are able to ride out these bumps in the road and realize that they are minor setbacks are the people that will overcome them, continue to develop, and eventually reach unbelievable success!
The people with the negative mindset will think the road is impossible to get through.
He will constantly make excuses, eventually begin to build in excuses for his future failures and will quit!
One of my favorite quotes of all time is by Randy Pausch.
His quote is “Brick walls are there for a reason. They show us how badly we want something.”
There are ways to get around any obstacle in life. The route may be hard and may take a ton of time, but with perseverance, you will be able to reach your goals.
In baseball, you will go through slumps, injuries, being unsure of your skills, and more injuries, but if you have an unwavering belief in yourself, the work you put in, and where you’re going, you will be able to reach the top!
